Technical/Anthropological. 'San' is the preferred and more respectful term for the indigenous people of southern Africa, largely replacing 'bushman' which can sometimes be seen as dated or colonial. Use 'San' in formal or academic contexts. 'The San people have a rich cultural history' is preferred over 'The bushman people...'.
