لباسهایی که برای نمایش یا مراسم خاص به شکل شخصیت یا سبک خاصی پوشیده میشوند.

تفاوت با واژههای مشابه
روزمره. معمولاً به یک دسته لباس اشاره دارد نه لزوماً برای نمایش یا مخفیکردن. 'She wore a fancy outfit' درست است ولی 'He wore a costume to the party' حالت تخصصی دارد.
Everyday. Refers generally to a set of clothes but not necessarily for performance or disguise. 'She wore a fancy outfit' works, 'He wore a costume to the party' is specialized.
رسمی. به طور کلی لباس، معمولاً لباس رسمی یا مجلسی است. جایگزین costume زمانی که منظور لباس نمایشی است نمیشود.
Formal. Means clothes in general, often fancy or formal ones. Not interchangeable with 'costume' when meaning dress-up clothes.
