تفاوت با واژههای مشابه
رسمی. اغلب به صورت جمع استفاده میشود، به ویژه در بافتهای درگیری بین گروهها یا ملتها. از نظر معنا بسیار شبیه است و اغلب قابل جایگزینی است، اما hostilities میتواند به اقدامات جنگی نیز اشاره کند. «خصومتها بین دو کشور» درست است، «انیموسیتهها بین آنها» نیز درست است اما بیشتر به احساسات زیربنایی اشاره دارد.
Formal. Often used in plural, especially in contexts of conflict between groups or nations. Very similar in meaning and often interchangeable, but 'hostilities' can also refer to acts of warfare. 'The hostilities between the two countries' works, 'The animosities between them' also works but implies more of the underlying feeling.
