رسمی/سنتی. اصطلاحی گستردهتر برای رهبر، بزرگتر یا رئیس در جوامع عرب، اغلب با اقتدار مذهبی یا قبیلهای. مختار معمولاً یک نوع خاص از رهبر اداری محلی است، در حالی که شیخ میتواند یک رهبر روحانی، رئیس قبیله یا حتی یک فرد ثروتمند باشد. «شیخ قبیله» یا «مختار روستا» هر دو معتبرند، اما نقشهایشان متفاوت است.
Formal/Traditional. A broader term for a leader, elder, or chief in Arab communities, often with religious or tribal authority. A muktar is usually a specific type of local administrative leader, whereas a sheikh can be a spiritual leader, tribal chief, or even a wealthy individual. 'The sheikh of the tribe' or 'The muktar of the village' are both valid, but their roles differ.
