روزمره. اغلب جایگزین persist می‌شود اما حس سماجت را ندارد. «او با وجود باران ادامه داد» مناسب است؛ «او با وجود باران پافشاری کرد» تاکید بر اراده دارد.

Common. Can often replace 'persist' in general contexts of continuing but usually lacks the sense of stubbornness. 'She continued despite the rain' works; 'She persisted despite the rain' emphasizes determination.

رسمی/روزمره. معمولاً در شرایطی که بر سختی غلبه برجسته است می‌شود جایگزین هم کرد.

Formal/common. Usually interchangeable in contexts emphasizing overcoming difficulties. 'He persevered in his studies' and 'He persisted in his studies' both work.
