فنی/رسمی. یک اصطلاح عمومی برای هر ماده فیزیکی. گستردهتر از 'agent' است زیرا لزوماً هدف یا عمل خاصی را نشان نمیدهد.
رسمی/روزمره. در زمینههایی که کسی به طور رسمی به جای دیگری قرار میگیرد، به ویژه در فروش یا سیاست، عمدتاً با 'agent' قابل تعویض است.
Formal/everyday. Largely interchangeable with 'agent' in contexts where someone officially stands in for another, especially in sales or politics. 'A sales representative' works, similar to 'a sales agent'.

Technical/financial. A person who buys and sells goods or assets for others. 'A stockbroker' works. More specific than 'agent' and usually involves financial transactions.
Technical/formal. A general term for any physical material. Broader than 'agent' as it doesn't necessarily imply a specific purpose or action. 'A toxic substance' works, 'a toxic agent' also works but is more specific about its effect.

Formal/technical. Refers to a substance through which something is conveyed or acts. 'Growth medium' in biology works. 'Agent' implies a more active role.
