تفاوت با واژههای مشابه
رسمی/متداول. جایگزین بدبین در موارد شک به حقیقت یا انگیزهها میشود؛ اما شکاک بیشتر درباره حقیقت است نه لزوماً انگیزههای خودخواهانه. مثلاً skeptical about the claim مقابل cynical about people's intentions.
Formal/common. Interchangeable with 'cynical' when doubting motives or truth, but 'skeptical' is more about questioning facts, not necessarily about selfish motives. For example, 'skeptical about the claim' vs. 'cynical about people's intentions'.
متداول/غیررسمی. معمولاً به انتظار بد و منفی بودن اشاره دارد، نه شک به صداقت یا انگیزهها. مثلاً pessimistic about the future، نه cynical about the future.
Common/informal. Refers generally to expecting the worst and negativity, not specifically doubting sincerity or motives. 'Pessimistic about the future' is usual, but not 'cynical about the future'.
