رسمی. برای انسان و حیوان هر دو به کار میرود و اغلب به معنای لمس مهربانانه و عاشقانه است.
Formal. Can be used for both people and animals, often implying a tender or loving touch. 'He caressed her hand' works, 'She caressed the dog' works.
غیررسمی/استعاری. اغلب به معنای لمس آرام، طولانی و گاهی شهوانی است که معمولا برای انسان یا اشیاء عزیز به کار میرود.
