تفاوت با واژههای مشابه
رسمی/ادبی. رها کردن از گناه یا سرزنش؛ شبیه 'shrived' در معنای دریافت بخشش، اما 'absolved' عمل اعتراف یا کفاره را شامل نمیشود. 'هیئت منصفه او را از تمام اتهامات تبرئه کرد.' شما معمولاً نمیگویید 'کشیش پس از شنیدن اعتراف گناهان توبهکننده را آمرزید' به همان شکلی که 'shrived' را به کار میبرید.
Formal/Literary. To free from guilt or blame; similar to 'shrived' in the sense of receiving forgiveness, but 'absolved' doesn't imply the act of confession or penance. 'The jury absolved him of all charges.' You wouldn't say 'The priest absolved the penitent of their sins after hearing confession' in the same way you'd say 'shrived'.

Common. To admit one's guilt or wrongdoing. This focuses on the act of admission, whereas 'shrived' implies both the admission AND the act of being absolved by a priest. 'He confessed his crimes to the police.' This does not carry the religious absolution implied by 'shrived'.
