Common. To join or fasten to something. 'Attach' is a very general synonym and often interchangeable with 'affix', especially for physical connection. 'Affix' can sometimes imply a more formal or permanent attachment, or a smaller item attached to a larger one. 'Attach a file to an email' works, 'affix a file' does not. 'Affix a stamp to a letter' works, 'attach a stamp' also works.

Common. To close or secure with a buckle, button, or tie. 'Fasten' often implies securing something for safety or stability. While 'affix' and 'fasten' both involve making something secure, 'fasten' specifically refers to securing with a mechanism. 'Fasten your seatbelt' works, 'affix your seatbelt' does not. 'Affix a label' works, 'fasten a label' is less common unless it involves a tie or clip.
