کهنه/رسمی. عتیقهشناس به مطالعه یا جمعآوری عتیقهجات (اشیاء قدیمی) میپردازد، اغلب به خاطر ارزش زیباییشناختی یا تاریخیشان، بدون اینکه لزوماً حفاریهای علمی انجام دهد. کمتر بر مطالعه سیستماتیک تاریخ بشر تمرکز دارد. در زمینههای دانشگاهی مدرن قابل تعویض نیست.
Dated/formal. An antiquarian studies or collects antiquities (old objects), often for their aesthetic or historical value, without necessarily conducting scientific excavations. Less focused on the systematic study of human history. Not interchangeable in modern academic contexts.
