تفاوت با واژههای مشابه
رسمی/فنی. در نوشتار رسمی یا هنگام تاکید بر جنبه مهندسی، با 'cars' قابل تعویض است. 'صنعت اتومبیل' مناسب است، اما 'من با اتومبیلم به سر کار رفتم' کمتر رایج است تا 'من با ماشینم به سر کار رفتم'.
Formal/technical. Interchangeable with 'cars' in formal writing or when emphasizing the engineering aspect. 'The automobile industry' works, but 'I drove my automobile to work' is less common than 'I drove my car to work'.

General. 'Vehicles' is a broader category that includes cars, trucks, buses, etc. Not directly interchangeable if you specifically mean a 'car'. 'Many vehicles were on the road' works, but 'My vehicle is a sports car' implies you're specifying the type.
