اشاره به یک اصطلاح، ایده یا اثر هنری که بیش از حد استفاده شده و غیرخلاقانه شده است؛ فاقد تازگی یا نوآوری.

رسمی/ادبی. از نظر معنایی بسیار نزدیک به 'cliched'، اغلب به معنای خستهکننده یا بیاثر بودن به دلیل استفاده بیش از حد. 'A trite remark' به خوبی کار میکند. کلیشهها پیش پا افتاده هستند.
Formal/Literary. Very close in meaning to 'cliched', often implying something is boring or ineffective because of overuse. 'A trite remark' works well. 'Cliches' are trite.
معمول. اصطلاحی گستردهتر به معنای جدید یا مبتکرانه نبودن. در حالی که یک ایده کلیشهای غیرخلاقانه است، همه ایدههای غیرخلاقانه لزوماً کلیشه نیستند (مثلاً یک تکلیف کپی شده غیرخلاقانه است اما کلیشه نیست). 'An unoriginal plot' صحیح است.
Common. A broader term meaning not new or inventive. While a cliched idea is unoriginal, not all unoriginal ideas are necessarily cliches (e.g., a copied homework assignment is unoriginal but not a cliche). 'An unoriginal plot' works.
