Technical/legal. This is the most direct synonym in common law systems, referring to a civil wrong causing harm or injury. It's interchangeable in a legal context to describe a civil wrong. 'The lawsuit was based on a tort claim.' works, 'The lawsuit was based on a delict claim.' works, though 'tort' is more common in English-speaking common law systems.
