Informal. 'Snobbery' focuses on the arrogant attitude of those who consider themselves superior, often regarding taste or social status, and looking down on others. 'Elitism' is broader and can refer to a system or belief, not just personal attitude. 'His snobbery about wine was annoying' works, 'The elitism of the education system' works but 'snobbery' wouldn't fit here.
