تفاوت با واژههای مشابه
رسمی/فنی. بسیار قابل تعویض، به ویژه در بافتهای رسمی. legislator شاید کمی آکادمیکتر یا رسمیتر به نظر برسد، در حالی که lawmaker در اخبار روزمره و گفتمان سیاسی رایجتر است.
Formal/technical. Highly interchangeable, especially in formal contexts. 'Legislator' is perhaps slightly more academic or official sounding, while 'lawmaker' is more common in everyday news and political discourse. 'The legislators debated the bill' works, and 'The lawmakers debated the bill' works too.

Specific. A 'senator' is a specific type of lawmaker, a member of a senate. Not all lawmakers are senators. 'The senator introduced a new bill' specifies the role within the legislative body.
