Formal. Often used in legal or medical contexts to refer to severe mental illness. Less used in casual contexts compared to 'madness'. Example: 'plea of insanity' works, 'plea of madness' is uncommon.
فنی/پزشکی. به حالتی از ذهن بر اثر سردرگمی و هذیان اشاره دارد و معنا کلی 'دیوانگی' را ندارد.
Technical/medical. Refers specifically to a disturbed state of mind with confusion and hallucinations, so less general than 'madness'.

Formal/literary. Emphasizes lack of good sense or judgment. Can replace 'madness' when referring to foolish actions but not mental illness. Example: 'the folly of his decision' fits, but not 'the madness of his illness'.
