تفاوت با واژههای مشابه
متداول. میتواند جایگزین باشد وقتی 'فریسیان' به صورت استعاری برای انتقاد از کسی به دلیل پارسایی ظاهری بدون خلوص درونی استفاده میشود، اما 'منافقان' یک اصطلاح کلی برای هر کسی است که فضایل را تظاهر میکند، نه خاص فرقه یهودی تاریخی. مثال: او آنها را به فریسی بودن متهم کرد. در مقابل: منافق نباش.
Common. Can be interchangeable when 'Pharisees' is used metaphorically to criticize someone for outward piety without inner sincerity, but 'hypocrites' is a general term for anyone feigning virtues, not specific to the historical Jewish sect. 'He accused them of being Pharisees.' vs 'Don't be a hypocrite.'

Historical/Religious. Refers to a Protestant group in the 16th and 17th centuries known for strict moral and religious principles. Only interchangeable in a very broad, metaphorical sense of strict adherence, not historically accurate for ancient Judaism. 'The Pharisees were like the Puritans of their time.'
