Everyday. 'Malice' is the desire to harm someone, a feeling of ill will. 'Schadenfreude' is the joy *after* harm has occurred, not the desire to cause it. They are related but distinct concepts. 'He acted with malice' works, 'She felt schadenfreude when her rival failed' works.
