تفاوت با واژههای مشابه
ادبی/کهن. به آتش زدن چیزی، یا برانگیختن احساسات اشاره دارد. بسیار شبیه 'tind' و اغلب در بافتهای کهن قابل تعویض است.
Literary/Archaic. To set something on fire, or to arouse an emotion. Very similar to 'tind' and often interchangeable in archaic contexts. 'He kindled the logs in the fireplace.' vs 'To tind a flame in the dark.'
رسمی. به آتش زدن چیزی یا وادار کردن آن به سوختن. هم برای آتش واقعی و هم برای آتشهای استعاری (مانند احساسات) به کار میرود. فقط در معنی آتش زدن با 'tind' قابل تعویض است، اما 'ignite' مدرن و بسیار رایجتر است.
Formal. To set something on fire or cause it to start burning. Can be used for both literal fires and metaphorical ones (like passions). Interchangeable with 'tind' only in the sense of starting a fire, but 'ignite' is modern and much more common. 'The spark ignited the dry grass.' vs 'He did tind the fire, didn't he?'
