روزمره. اصطلاحی بسیار رایج و کمی کمتر غیررسمی از 'grandpappy' که هم کودکان و هم بزرگسالان از آن استفاده میکنند. همیشه میتواند جای 'grandpappy' را در بافتهای غیررسمی بگیرد. 'پدربزرگم به من ماهیگیری یاد داد.' درست است، اما 'grandpappy قوانین ملت ما' نامناسب است.
Everyday. A very common and slightly less informal term than 'grandpappy', widely used by children and adults. Can always replace 'grandpappy' in informal contexts. 'My grandpa taught me to fish.' works, 'The grandpappy of our nation's laws' is awkward.
رایج/رسمی. اصطلاح استاندارد و رسمی برای پدر پدر یا مادر شخص. در همه بافتها استفاده میشود، اما بیشتر در نوشتار رسمی یا هنگام اشاره محترمانه به این نقش. 'پدربزرگم در جنگ خدمت کرد.' درست است، اما 'بیا اینجا، grandfather!' کمتر رایج است.
Common/Formal. The standard, formal term for the father of one's father or mother. Used in all contexts, but more often in formal writing or when referring to the role respectfully. 'My grandfather served in the war' works, 'Come here, grandfather!' is less common than 'grandpa'.
