Everyday. A discoloration of the skin resulting from bleeding underneath, typically caused by impact. A bruise is a type of haematoma, but 'haematoma' refers specifically to a larger, often palpable collection of blood, while 'bruise' can be superficial. 'He had a small bruise on his arm' is common, 'He had a large haematoma' is more serious.
