Technical. A 'crevasse' is a deep crack in a glacier, which can be vertical or horizontal. A 'moulin' is a specific type of vertical shaft formed by water. While related, they are not interchangeable. 'Falling into a crevasse' is general, 'Falling into a moulin' specifies the type of opening.
