An act of speaking one's thoughts aloud when by oneself or regardless of any hearers, especially by a character in a play.

رایج. سخنرانی طولانی یک بازیگر در یک نمایش یا فیلم، یا یک سخنرانی طولانی توسط یک نفر در طول مکالمه. اگرچه اغلب خطاب به شخصیتهای دیگر است، اما اگر شخصیت تنها باشد میتواند مونولوگ نیز باشد. 'بودن یا نبودن' هملت یک مونولوگ معروف است.
Common. A long speech by one actor in a play or movie, or a long speech by one person during a conversation. While often delivered to other characters, it can also be a soliloquy if the character is alone. 'Hamlet's 'To be or not to be' is a famous monologue.'

Literary/theatrical. A remark or passage by a character in a play that is intended to be heard by the audience but unheard by the other characters in the play. Much shorter than a soliloquy. 'He delivered an aside to the audience, mocking the king.'
