تفاوت با واژههای مشابه
رسمی/آکادمیک. از نظر معنایی بسیار نزدیک و عمدتاً با 'suppositional' قابل تعویض است. هر دو به چیزی اشاره دارند که بر اساس حدس یا نظریه است تا واقعیت ثابت شده. 'یک موقعیت فرضی' (hypothetical) و 'یک موقعیت مفروض' (suppositional) هر دو کاربرد دارند، با این تفاوت که 'hypothetical' در کاربردهای عمومی و آکادمیک کمی رایجتر است.
Formal/Academic. Very close in meaning and largely interchangeable with 'suppositional'. Both refer to something based on a guess or theory rather than established fact. 'A hypothetical situation' works, 'a suppositional situation' works, with 'hypothetical' being slightly more common in general use and academic contexts.
