اصل و نسب یا شجرهنامه یک فرد، به ویژه برای یک حیوان اصیل.

تفاوت با واژههای مشابه
رسمی. در اشاره به تبار کاملا قابل تعویض است. 'نسب او سلطنتی است' درست است، 'نسب اسب قوی است' نیز درست است.
Formal. Directly interchangeable when referring to lineage. 'Her ancestry is royal' works, 'The horse's ancestry is strong' also works.
متداول. اغلب برای حیوانات برای نشان دادن اصالت نژاد استفاده میشود. 'سگ شجرهنامه خوبی دارد' درست است، 'خانواده او تبار طولانی دارد' نیز در بافت رسمیتر درست است.
Common. Often used for animals to denote purebred status. 'The dog has a good pedigree' works, 'His family has a long pedigree' also works in a more formal context.
