مقاومتی که یک سطح یا جسم هنگام حرکت روی سطح دیگر ایجاد میکند.

تفاوت با واژههای مشابه
رسمی. میتوان به جای اصطکاک در بحث کلی مخالفت با حرکت استفاده کرد ولی دقت اصطکاک برای تماس سطحی بیشتر است؛ مثلاً resistance to movement کاربرد دارد اما friction to movement دقیقتر در فیزیک است.
Formal. Can replace friction when discussing general opposition to motion but less precise for surface contact; e.g. 'resistance to movement' works, but 'friction to movement' is more exact in physics.

تفاوت با واژههای مشابه
متداول و کمی رسمی. وقتی اختلاف جدی مقصود است به جای اصطکاک استفاده میشود؛ مثلاً conflict between coworkers قویتر از friction between coworkers است که تنش ملایمتری را نشان میدهد.
Common and somewhat formal. Can replace friction when implying serious disagreements; e.g. 'conflict between coworkers' is stronger than 'friction between coworkers', which suggests milder tension.
متداول و خنثی. در بافت اجتماعات برای تاکید استرس یا ناراحتی جایگزین خوبی است اما برای معنای فیزیکی مناسب نیست؛ مثلاً tension in the room مناسب است اما tension on the road نه.
Common and neutral. Can replace friction in social contexts emphasizing stress or unease, but not for physical meaning; e.g. 'tension in the room' fits, 'tension on the road' does not.
