رسماً کسی یا چیزی را به موقعیتی پایینتر یا کماهمیتتر واگذار کردن، معمولاً به عنوان نوعی تنزل رتبه یا مجازات.
To officially assign someone or something to a lower or less important position, rank, or category, often as a form of punishment or demotion.

رسمی. هنگام پایین آوردن رتبه شخص، میتوان به جای relegate از آن استفاده کرد، مانند «تنزل رتبه دادن به یک کارمند»؛ relegate دامنهی کاربرد وسیعتری دارد و برای چیزها نیز به کار میرود.
Formal. Interchangeable with 'relegate' when referring to lowering someone's rank or position, e.g. 'demote an employee'; 'relegate' is broader and can apply to things too.
رسمی/ادبی. به معنی تبعید دائم است و معمولاً شدت بیشتری نسبت به relegate دارد که بیشتر به تنزل رتبه اشاره میکند.
Formal/literary. Means sending someone away permanently, often more severe than 'relegate', which implies demotion more than exile.
