صدایی خشن، زیر و ارتعاشی که در حین تنفس تولید میشود و معمولاً نشاندهنده انسداد در حنجره یا نای است.

تفاوت با واژههای مشابه
فنی/پزشکی. 'خسخس سینه' صدای سوتمانند زیر است که معمولاً با راههای هوایی تنگشده در دستگاه تنفسی تحتانی (مانند آسم) همراه است. 'استریدور' خشنتر است و از انسداد در راه هوایی فوقانی (حنجره/نای) نشأت میگیرد. قابل تعویض نیستند، زیرا مکانهای مختلف انسداد را نشان میدهند.
Technical/Medical. 'Wheezing' is a high-pitched whistling sound typically associated with constricted airways in the lower respiratory tract (e.g., asthma). 'Stridor' is harsher and originates from obstruction in the upper airway (larynx/trachea). Not interchangeable, as they indicate different locations of obstruction.
