رسمی. در شرایط تحمل درد یا سختی معمولا جایگزین suffer میشود — مثلاً endured the cold مناسب است، اما برای همه رنجهای عاطفی نیست. وقتی بخواهیم پایداری را نشان دهیم کاربرد دارد.
Formal. Interchangeable with 'suffer' mostly when focusing on tolerating pain or hardship — 'endured the cold' works, but not all emotional sufferings. Used when emphasizing perseverance.
رسمی. برای تجربهها یا فرایندها مثل جراحی یا تغییرات استفاده میشود. در برخی موارد جایگزین suffer میشود اما حالت عاطفی کمتری دارد. مثلا undergo surgery صحیح است ولی undergo pain کمتر رایج است.

Common. 'Allow' can replace this sense when focusing on permitting something negative, but 'suffer' is slightly more formal or literary—'He will not allow such behavior' is more everyday.
