تفاوت با واژههای مشابه
رسمی/ادبی. سرمای شدید و اغلب خشن را توصیف میکند. برای آب و هوا یا شرایط میتواند جایگزین 'freezing' شود، اما لحنی دراماتیکتر دارد.
Formal/literary. Describes extreme, often harsh cold. Interchangeable with 'freezing' for weather or conditions, but sounds more dramatic. 'Frigid air' works, 'I'm frigid' doesn't.
ادبی/توصیفی. به سرمایی اشاره دارد که باعث ناراحتی یا درد میشود، اغلب همراه با باد. 'باد سوزناک' درست است، اما 'دمای سوزناک' کمتر از 'دمای یخی' رایج است.
Literary/descriptive. Refers to a cold that causes discomfort or pain, often accompanied by wind. 'Bitter wind' works, 'bitter temperatures' is less common than 'freezing temperatures'.
