Similar to 'poignance' in evoking deep emotion, but 'pathos' often implies pity or sympathy, whereas 'poignance' is more focused on a sharp, bittersweet sadness or regret.

Common. The quality of being bitter or feeling resentment. While related to sadness, 'bitterness' implies a harsher, more resentful emotion, whereas 'poignance' is often more tender or wistful. Not interchangeable.
