Formal/Literary. The quality or power in an actual life experience or in literature, music, speech, or other forms of expression, of evoking a feeling of pity, or of sympathetic and kindly sorrow or compassion. Similar to 'poignance' in evoking deep emotion, but 'pathos' often implies pity or sympathy, whereas 'poignance' is more focused on a sharp, bittersweet sadness or regret.
متداول. کیفیت تلخ بودن یا احساس کینه. اگرچه به غم مربوط میشود، 'تلخی' به احساسی خشنتر و کینهجویانهتر اشاره دارد، در حالی که 'poignance' اغلب لطیفتر یا حسرتآمیزتر است. قابل تعویض نیست.
Common. The quality of being bitter or feeling resentment. While related to sadness, 'bitterness' implies a harsher, more resentful emotion, whereas 'poignance' is often more tender or wistful. Not interchangeable.
