تفاوت با واژههای مشابه
رایج/منفی. در حالی که به معنای سرنوشت از پیش تعیین شده نیز هست، 'doom' به شدت یک نتیجه منفی، اجتنابناپذیر و اغلب فاجعهبار را نشان میدهد. 'او محکوم به شکست بود' درست است، اما 'predestined to fail' کمی ملایمتر است. 'Doom' حس بسیار سنگینتری از بدبختی اجتنابناپذیر را منتقل میکند.
Common/negative. While also implying a predetermined fate, 'doom' strongly suggests a negative, inescapable, and often catastrophic outcome. 'He was doomed to fail.' works, but 'predestined to fail' is a bit softer. 'Doom' carries a much heavier sense of inevitable misfortune.
