رسمی. در امتناعهای مودبانه جایگزین refuse میشود مثلاً decline an invitation، اما همیشه برای رد قاطع مناسب نیست.
Formal. Can replace 'refuse' in polite refusals, e.g. 'decline an invitation', but not always in forceful rejection. 'She declined the offer' works, 'He declined to run the race' is less common.
معمولی/استاندارد. اغلب با refuse در مورد پیشنهادها قابل جایگزینی است اما reject شدت بیشتری دارد.
Neutral/standard. Often interchangeable with 'refuse' when talking about offers or proposals. 'He rejected the proposal' works like 'refused the proposal', but reject implies stronger refusal.
