«جاخورده با چشمان شعله‌ور، از میان جنگل مخوف عبور کرد و هنگام آمدن غرغر می‌کرد! یک، دو! یک، دو! و از این سو به آن سو تیغ وُرپال (vorpal) بریده بریده رفت! او آن را مرده رها کرد و با سرش با عجله بازگشت.
