تفاوت با واژههای مشابه
فنی. یک سیستم آب و هوایی در مقیاس بزرگ با بادهای چرخشی که اغلب در مناطق اقیانوس هند استفاده میشود. 'Tornadoes' بسیار کوچکتر، شدیدتر و معمولاً بر فراز خشکی رخ میدهند. به دلیل مقیاس و مکان قابل تعویض نیستند. 'Tropical cyclones' همان طوفانهای هاریکن/تایفون هستند.
Technical. A large-scale weather system with rotating winds, often used in Indian Ocean regions. 'Tornadoes' are much smaller, more intense, and typically occur over land. Not interchangeable due to scale and location. 'Tropical cyclones' are hurricanes/typhoons.

Common. A smaller, less destructive rotating column of air, often carrying dust or light debris. 'Whirlwinds' are less severe than 'tornadoes' and don't typically cause major structural damage. 'A dust whirlwind' vs. 'a destructive tornado'.
