فنی/قانونی. ادعا یا مدرکی مبنی بر اینکه فرد هنگام ارتکاب یک عمل در جای دیگری بوده است. فقط زمانی میتواند جایگزین 'excuses' شود که توجیه به طور خاص مربوط به حضور در مکانی متفاوت در زمان وقوع یک رویداد باشد.
Technical/legal. A claim or piece of evidence that one was elsewhere when an act was committed. Can replace 'excuses' only when the justification is specifically about being in a different location at the time of an event.

تفاوت با واژههای مشابه
روزمره. از نظر معنی بسیار نزدیک است وقتی به بخشش کسی اشاره دارد. 'او اشتباهاتش را میبخشد' (forgives his mistakes) و 'او اشتباهاتش را عفو میکند' (excuses his mistakes) اغلب قابل تعویض هستند، اگرچه 'forgives' به معنای بخشش عاطفی بیشتری است.
Everyday. Very close in meaning when referring to pardoning someone. 'She forgives his mistakes' and 'She excuses his mistakes' are often interchangeable, though 'forgives' implies more emotional absolution.

Formal/legal or religious. To set someone free from guilt, blame, or responsibility. Can replace 'excuses' when the release from blame is complete and formal. 'The court absolves him of all charges'.
