Common everyday. Usually interchangeable, but 'separate' can mean physically move apart, not always division into parts. E.g. 'Divide the cake' and 'Separate the cake pieces' are similar but slightly different.

Informal. Often used for physical breaking apart or sharing, less formal than divide. E.g. 'Split the bill' but not 'Divide the territory' in formal texts.

Common. Emphasizes spreading out items or resources, slightly broader than divide. E.g. 'Distribute flyers' vs. 'Divide chocolate'.
